How to choose a good hairdresser?

I am 61, always had my hair cut regularly but never had the bottle to have anything else done.. Now, it's very grey, dull, lifeless and has no body. It's baby fine and difficult to do anything with. How do I choose a hairdresser that won't just treat me as 'another client' during a hard days graft. I really need some advice from someone who actually cares what I look like and cares about me.

Try your local training college as I know that students are desperate for ladies of your generation to have their hair set so as to get their grade. You will be treated as a client and the teachers are watching anyway. They will give you a pre treatment assensment and make you cups of tea. It may take a bit longer but you really would be helping the students

Are you a dog or did you mean to post this under beauty and style?

If you are a dog then you must be the oldest dog in the world

No seriously, ask your friends where they go and if they would recommend it. Otherwise just go into a local salon and ask them for a quick free consultation as to what they would recommend and if you like the sound of it go there.

ask someone whos hair you admire where they go. entrust a hairdresser that will spend time discussing your needs and what your hair will or wont do.

Go in for a consultation, and ALWAYS go wit hthe busiest stylist in the salon. You may have to wait a little while, but it will be worth your wait. And from there you can book in advance for touch ups and cuts about every 6 weeks.

Get an early appointment so they don't have a chance to get bored , go on a Friday so they are looking forward to going out on the town.

Grey can be coloured , just don't go mad , black hair might look odd on a 60 year old ! , get it dyed what your colour used to be or even get some low-lights and blend it in gradually.
